Photofriday: Massive
I posted a similar photo recently, but this one really highlights the scale of the bridge with the sailboat on the left.
So it's a good excuse to post them both. :)

In this picture from a different ferry ride, you can see several of San Francisco's most famous landmarks. The Bay Bridge is just visible on the lefthand corner with the the clock tower of the historic Ferry Building in front of it. The long red and white building is one of many piers, the round building on top of the hill in the center of the picture is Coit Tower, and the pyramid is the Transamerica Building. Straight ahead is Fisherman's Wharf (not that it's recognizable), and to the right you can see both of the North Beach Cathedrals: "St. Francis of Assisi Shrine" and "Saints Peter and Paul Church" respectively.

These two I'll post together, since they were taken at the same time in the light of a Christmas tree. Notice the similarity between the birds here and in the previous post.

The 2005 Stanford Solar Car - 'Solstice'
In honor of the Stanford Solar Car team, which just took first place in the stock class of the North American Solar Challenge. And beating Cal by 25 minutes in the process!

I took this photograph about a month ago, just days before leaving Stanford. The campus is extremely beautiful... so much so that it's been photographed from every angle, and most of the pictures I took over my four years there ended up feeling recycled.
But I'm pleased that in my last few days I was able to get in at least one image that feels moderately unique. It's a familiar scene, but perhaps it's the colors or the vantage point that make it somehow more dynamic than the standard "view of the quad" shot.

View of Puerto Vallarta
It took some maneuvering to line up the foreground plant with the background, and then when I got it developed I found that the last two exposures on the roll were 1/2 double exposed... so hence the square image. At least it wasn't a total loss!
Hello is offline for me again... I think there's a moral here that I really need to design and host my own site rather than rely on everyone else's technology to run things for me.

Graduation
Taken during wacky walk, at graduation, Stanford University, June 12, 2005.
After The Man confiscated the materials for their tower, they were understandably shocked that The Man almost stole our umbrellas as well.
Incidentally... we did make it into the Stanford Report Article. "Also seen were a procession of walking iPods, several balloon floats, spray-painted umbrellas... "
